About Me

I am Full Professor of Software Engineering in the Department of Computer Science at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), Spain. I am also Director of the Master's Degree in Software Systems Engineering and Technology at UPV. I received my Ph.D in Computer Science from the UPV in 2004. Previously, I was a Visiting Scholar at the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) at Carnegie Mellon University in 2010 and 2012, at the Université catholique de Louvain in 2007 and 2017, and at the Ghent University in 2004 and 2006. My current research interests include the application of machine learning techniques to support the adaptation of software systems, quality assurance in model-driven engineering, the empirical assessment of software modeling approaches and the integration of usability/UX into software development. I have been Principal Researcher in eighteen research projects/contracts involving academic and industrial partners. In particular, I have led the MULTIPLE (Mutimodeling approach for quality-aware software product lines) project funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation in close collaboration with the Rolls-Royce Software Centre of Excellence. More recently, I have led the Spanish Network of Excellence on Software Quality and Sustainability, and the Adapt@Cloud project aimed to provide a user-centric framework to support dynamic adaptation of cloud-based systems. I have (co)authored over 150 peer-reviewed publications. From 2011 to 2017 I was the Spanish Editor of ERCIM News, the scientific magazine of the European Research Consortium for Informatics and Mathematics. Currently, I am Associate Editor for the IEEE Software magazine, and the ACM Transactions on Software Engineering and Methodology (TOSEM) and Automated Software Engineering (ASE) journals. I also serve as Editor-in-Chief for the TOSEM Continuous Special Section on Human-Centric Software Engineering, and as Co-editor of the  IEEE Software Practitioner’s Digest department. In addition, I am on the Editorial Board of the Springer journal Software and Systems Modeling (SoSyM) and on the Advisory Editorial Board of the Wiley Journal of Software: Practice and Experience (SPE). I have also served as General Co-Chair of ACM/IEEE 17th International Conference on Model Driven Engineering Languages and Systems (MODELS 2014), PC-Co Chair of MODELS 2020 and Chair of the MODELS Steering Committee.

• April 2024: I have been selected as an expert evaluator for the EIC Pathfinder OPEN 2024 call, European Innovation Council - the Europe’s flagship innovation programme of the European Commission.

• December 2023: I joined the Automated Software Engineering  (ASE) journal as Associate Editor.

• September 2023: I have been appointed Director of the Master's Degree in Software Systems Engineering and Technology from the Department of Computer Science at UPV.

• March 2022: I have been included in a ranking of the Best Women Scientists in Spain elaborated by the CSIC , being the 12 out of 53 women scientists of the Universitat Politècnica de València included in this ranking (and the first place out of 10 scientists of the Department of Computer Systems and Computation - DSIC). 

• February 2019: I have been selected among the “50 most Distinguished Women Scholars at the UPV” for my scientific contributions (4 faculty members from the Department of Computer Science). See news at the UPV website and Levante.

• August 2018: I have been selected as an Associate Editor for IEEE Software through an open call that received 110 applications!
